Musings from the Bunker 9/27/20
Here is a really disturbing answer to whether our president would commit to a peaceful transition of power. Just get rid of the ballots and there will be a continuation. Forwarded to me by Lauren. We have problems:
And, again, the Atlantic article on the confusion that likely will occur during the November 3 to December 14 (and perhaps beyond):
And this from the Huffington Post. Note that he makes clear the strategy of declaring victory on the evening of the election, not waiting for the “Blue Shift” of absentee ballots coming in after election day. Ugly:
“Now we’re counting on the federal court system to make it so that we can actually have an evening where we know who wins. Not where the votes are going to be counted a week later or two weeks later,” Trump said at a campaign rally in North Carolina on Saturday, one day after Ginsburg’s death.
And for those who want to read about the President’s statements on the Coronavirus strategy that hasn’t worked and fact-check his statements: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/08/trumps-lies-about-coronavirus/608647/
This is not going to be pretty—not the virus, not the level of discontent and, apparently, not the election.
Pray for the republic,
